DAILY FLOW

The Summer Workshop

Day 1

Introduce and refine proper rowing stroke mechanics while developing core stability.  Athletes will meet at the indoor training facility to learn the ergometer (rowing machine) and build endurance.

Day 2

Introduce the components of the boat, teach athletes how to establish the boat's "set" (balance) and proper boat entry and exit.  Athletes will meet at the Marina to develop balance and reinforce the fundamentals of the rowing stroke.

Day 3

Continue building and refining the rowing stroke.  Athletes will meet at the Marina to develop teamwork, learn how to row effectively as a crew and understand the responsibilities of each seat in the boat.

Day 4

Integrate all aspects of the rowing stroke, emphasize blade timing, synchronization, and boat speed.  Athletes will meet at the Marina to improve efficiency, accuracy and movement as one crew.

Inside the Clinic:

We maintain a high-performance environment that demands commitment and proper preparation. Please review the following requirements to ensure a seamless experience for all participants.

What is the safety protocal for the clinic?

Safety is our absolute highest priority. All athletes must pass a comprehensive USRowing swim test before handling equipment, and a fully equipped safety launch boat stocked with Coast Guard-approved life jackets closely accompanies the rowers at all times. Furthermore, all of our equipment meets strict safety standards, and every coach on the water is fully certified in CPR and First Aid

What should I bring to the clinic?

  • Clothing: * Snug-fitting athletic clothes: (Crucial!) Loose shorts or baggy hoodies can get caught in the tracks of the rolling seats or wrap around the oar handles. Spandex shorts, leggings, and fitted athletic tees are best.

  • Socks: They will be slipping their feet into shoes built right into the rowing boats. A clean pair of socks is required for comfort and hygiene.

  • Sunscreen & Lip Balm: There is zero shade on the water, and the sun reflects right up off the surface.

  • Hat or Visor: To keep the glare out of their eyes so they can see the coach.

  • Sunglasses: Highly recommended (and a strap to keep them from falling into the lake is a bonus).

  • Reusable Water Bottle: No glass, please! A large, durable water bottle is a must.

  • Slide-on Shoes/Sandals: Slides, Crocs, or flip-flops are perfect because they will be stepping out of their shoes right at the dock to get into the boat.

  • A Small, Healthy Snack: For a quick energy boost right after we dock.
